The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate for the Jalandhar West assembly by-poll, Mohinder Bhagat, has secured a decisive victory, defeating his closest competitor, BJP's Sheetal Angural, by more than 37,000 votes. Bhagat garnered 55,246 votes, translating to 58.39% of the total votes cast.
BJP's Sheetal Angural received 17,921 votes, while Congress nominee Surinder Kaur trailed with 16,757 votes. Expressing gratitude on social media platform X, Bhagat thanked party members and volunteers for their relentless efforts. AAP leader Sanjay Singh emphasized that the public rejects those who betray AAP.
In Himachal Pradesh, Congress candidate Kamlesh Thakur triumphed in Dehra, defeating BJP's Hoshyar Singh, and Hardeep Singh Bawa led in the Nalagarh constituency against BJP's KL Thakur. BJP's Ashish Sharma maintained a narrow lead in Hamirpur. These results come after polling for 13 assembly seats across seven states on July 10.
