The India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced on Sunday that the monsoon has begun shifting downward, leading to a red alert for coastal Karnataka, Kerala, and Konkan Goa. These regions are expected to receive over 20 cm of rain in the coming days. IMD scientist Dr. Naresh Kumar informed ANI that Delhi-NCR will experience light rain, with no alert issued for the capital city.

Several Indian states have been experiencing heavy rainfall for days, resulting in flooding and loss of life and property. The Kamwari River in Maharashtra's Bhiwandi area overflowed on Sunday, inundating homes near its banks. In the Sultania Gali slum area of Bhiwandi, knee-deep water has displaced residents, with no response so far from the Bhiwandi Municipal Corporation.

Locals complained about the lack of municipal action, citing annual flooding issues exacerbated by uncleaned drains. Heavy rains have also raised the Madhuban Dam's water level in Valsad, Gujarat. Disaster Management Officer Naseem Sheikh reported extensive flooding in low-lying areas, including the national highway. In Delhi, rain on Saturday morning led to waterlogging and traffic jams, but provided some relief from the July heat. Noida also experienced rain in the morning. Visuals from Delhi's Barapullah flyover showed vehicles navigating through waterlogged roads.
