The Border Security Force (BSF) apprehended a Bangladeshi national along with liquor bottles in the East Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya. Acting on specific intelligence, the vigilant 172 Bn BSF troops conducted a special operation in the bordering area of BOP-Dona, resulting in the apprehension of Shameem, a 22-year-old from Sylhet district, Bangladesh, along with the liquor.

The detained individual and the confiscated liquor were handed over to PS-Umkiang for further legal proceedings. Concurrently, Indian and Bangladeshi border forces agreed on Monday to intensify efforts to decrease attacks on BSF personnel by cross-border criminals.

According to an official BSF statement, both parties have committed to collaborating on coordinated patrols, particularly during high-risk hours, and educating border communities about the significance of the International Border's sanctity. These resolutions were made during a Sector Commander-level meeting at Border Outpost Hili of the 61 Battalion BSF in Dakshin Dinajpur, West Bengal.

Both sides recognized mutual concerns and agreed to resolve border issues through ongoing, constructive, and positive engagements. The implementation of the conference's decisions will be pursued earnestly at ground level. (ANI)
