Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday took part in the traditional 'halwa' ceremony, signaling the final stage of preparing the Union Budget 2024-25, set for unveiling on July 23 in Lok Sabha.
The halwa ceremony involves preparing and serving the traditional dessert 'halwa' to finance ministry officials and staff engaged in the budget drafting process. This year, the ritual took place in the North Block basement in New Delhi.
Alongside Sitharaman, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary and other senior officials were present. The upcoming budget will be released in a paperless format, accessible through the Union Budget Mobile App.
