The government of Tripura has begun demolishing a controversial club in Usha Bazar, Agartala, on Wednesday. Authorities cited the club's construction in a public area and its alleged involvement in smuggling and other anti-social activities as reasons for the action.
Dr. Vishal Kumar, District Magistrate and Collector of West Tripura, stated, "The CM Manik Saha and the Tripura government have a policy of zero tolerance against crime. No organisation, no person who is indulged in smuggling, drug peddling, or land mafia activities will be spared. Strict action will be taken against all those."
Further, he mentioned that new and old members facing allegations are already in jail. He revealed a proposal to construct a primary healthcare center on the same land. Kiran Kumar, the SP of West Tripura district, confirmed the club was illegally built, justifying the demolition. He assured that the government will continue its stringent actions against unlawful activities.
