The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has chargesheeted 10 individuals in connection with a firing incident at a businessman's residence in Chandigarh. The act was carried out by aides of notorious terrorist Goldy Brar, who remains absconding alongside another key conspirator, Gurpreet Singh alias Goldy Dhillon.
According to an official release, Goldy Brar has been identified as the mastermind behind the operation, responsible for forming and leading a terror gang to execute a series of terror activities in India. The incident at the businessman's house occurred on January 19th, facilitated by Brar’s associates after he demanded extortion money from the victim.
NIA investigations revealed that Brar, operating a significant terror-extortion-narco network through his associates in India, orchestrated the procurement of arms, smuggling, narcotics trade, and targeted attacks. The case, taken over by the NIA from Chandigarh Police in March, also highlighted a wider conspiracy to target wealthy businessmen across multiple states. Besides Brar and Dhillon, other chargesheeted individuals include Gurvinder Singh, Kashi Singh, Shubham Kumar Giri, Amritpal Singh, Kamalpreet Singh, Prem Singh, Sarbjeet Singh, and Gagandeep Singh. They have all been charged under relevant sections of IPC, UA(P) Act, Arms Act, and NDPS Act.
