The National Investigation Agency (NIA) detained a senior member of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist) in connection with a 2021 Bihar case involving the seizure of arms, ammunition, and explosives. The individual, known as Uday ji or Rajesh Kumar Sinha, holds a key position within the CPI (Maoist) organization.

According to the NIA, Uday ji was arrested under several provisions including the Arms Act and the Explosive Substances Act. The agency's statement also outlined that apart from arms and ammunition, improvised hand grenades and various incriminating materials used in manufacturing explosives were confiscated from operatives linked to the CPI (Maoist).

The investigation revealed a broader conspiracy to supply arms and explosives to the proscribed terrorist organization. Chargesheets have been filed against multiple accused, and further probes have brought other significant members like Mithilesh Mehta into the spotlight, leading to additional arrests and charges.
