Sterling and Wilson Secures Landmark Battery Energy Storage System Project in Rajasthan
Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy has secured a groundbreaking project to set up a 1,000 MWhr battery energy storage system in Rajasthan. They have also procured a floating solar project in Karnataka, making it their third such project. The combined value of these projects is Rs 328 crore.
Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy has announced that it has been awarded a contract to establish a 1,000 MWhr standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) plant in Rajasthan. This marks a significant milestone as India's largest BESS project to date.
The company's responsibilities will include the engineering, design, procurement, erection, testing, and commissioning of the plant. However, the client who awarded the contract remains undisclosed. Additionally, Sterling and Wilson secured a 20 MW floating solar project in Karnataka from the same client, bringing the total value of these projects to Rs 328 crore.
According to Amit Jain, Global CEO of Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Group, this project is not only a significant addition to their portfolio but also a crucial development for India's renewable energy landscape. The total installed capacity of BESS in India currently stands at 219 MWhr, and the National Electricity Plan projects a significant increase in energy storage capacity requirements by 2026-27.
