The Tis Hazari court in Delhi has demanded a response from the Delhi Police concerning the preservation and submission of vital CCTV footage from a drowning incident occurring in Old Rajender Nagar. This legal request was made by Manuj Kathuria, the SUV driver involved in the event, following his bail grant.
Judicial Magistrate (First Class) Vinod Kumar issued a notice to the case's Investigation Officer, seeking a detailed reply. The court has scheduled further hearings for August 7. The plea, led by Advocates RK Tripathi and Sahil Ahuja, demands the preservation and production of CCTV footage from one hour before and 30 minutes after the incident.
During Kathuria's bail hearing, the judge noted the lack of comprehensive CCTV footage collection prior to 6:45 PM on July 27, 2024. The Delhi Police, in their status report on the bail plea, decided not to pursue charges under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
