The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday arrested Sandeep Singh Yadav, an Assistant Director of the Enforcement Directorate (ED), for accepting bribes of Rs 20 lakh in the national capital.

The arrest was made in the Lajpat Nagar area of Delhi, where a complaint had led to a sting operation. The official was caught red-handed while taking the bribe from a jeweller in exchange for leniency in a case involving the jeweller's son.

According to senior CBI officials, an FIR is being registered in the matter. The arrest follows a similar incident in August 2023, where an ED Assistant Director and six other officials were caught accepting a Rs 5 crore bribe in the Delhi liquor scam. More updates are awaited.
