Air Intelligence Unit Seizes Over 460 Grams of Smuggled Gold at Cochin Airport

The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) has seized 466.5 grams of gold from a passenger at Kerala's Cochin International Airport, the agency announced on Monday. The passenger was traveling on flight FZ 453 from Doha to Kochi via Dubai.
According to AIU, officers intercepted the suspect at the exit gate area of Cochin International Airport. During the search, authorities discovered eight gold chains concealed inside the soles of the passenger's shoes.
The gold, valued at over Rs 30 lakhs, has been confiscated and an investigation is ongoing. In a separate incident on August 9, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 1,390.85 grams of gold from a passenger at Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. The passenger had hidden gold bars shaped like batteries in his shoes and backpack.
