Karnataka Governor Thawarchand Gehlot has sanctioned the prosecution of Chief Minister Siddaramiah in connection with the alleged MUDA scam, escalating political tensions between the BJP and Congress. The move, described as a 'shameless step' by Karnataka Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, has been met with fierce opposition from the state government.
Congress leader Pawan Khera criticized the Governor's decision, alleging that constitutional posts have been politicized since the BJP came to power. Khera expressed confidence that the Governor's actions were baseless and aimed at creating unnecessary political drama.
Meanwhile, BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla labeled the Siddaramiah administration as the most corrupt in the country's history. He accused the Chief Minister of partisan distribution of prime land parcels and demanded his resignation for a fair investigation. The Karnataka government has announced plans to challenge the Governor's decision in the High Court.
