A woman and her two relatives have been booked under the POSCO Act for allegedly fabricating a gang rape case against two individuals in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, police said. The trio was charged under Section 22 of the POSCO Act for filing a false case, according to Jhansi SSP Rajesh S.
Police reported that the family initially accused two men of raping the woman in a moving white car. However, during an investigation, a different narrative emerged. After taking the accused into custody and interrogating them, police checked CCTV footage near the victim's house. They found no evidence of a white car, contrary to the victim's earlier claim of being kidnapped. Instead, CCTV showed the woman alone, Jhansi SSP Rajesh S stated.
Jhansi SSP further explained to the media that CCTV footage from 50-60 cameras revealed the girl wandered around the city before entering a fort. Police said the girl eventually confessed the entire story was fabricated. 'The girl admitted that the entire story was concocted to trap two individuals,' SSP Rajesh S said, noting that her aunt and her aunt's son assisted in the deception.
'Her aunt and her aunt’s son were involved,' the SSP added. 'The girl intended to elope with a boy and had bought jewelry for the occasion. She waited for him at the fort but returned to her aunt's house when he didn't show up,' he added.
