Thousands of aspiring police constables converged on exam centres in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, as part of the 2024 police constable recruitment exercise aimed at filling over 60,000 vacancies. Candidates formed long queues in cities like Moradabad and Kanpur, eager to take the crucial examination.

The Uttar Pradesh Police Constable Recruitment Exam 2024 spans multiple dates—August 23, 24, 25, 30, and 31—across 67 centres statewide, conducted in two daily shifts. Roughly five lakh candidates are set to participate in each shift.

Stringent security and support measures have been put in place to ensure seamless exam conduct. Speaking to ANI, Joint Commissioner (Law & Order) Amit Verma emphasized the deployment of teams at the centres not only for security but also to facilitate candidates.

Additionally, a dedicated help desk has been established by the Government Railway Police (GRP) to assist candidates facing any issues. GRP SP Prashant Verma highlighted the initiative aimed at candidates traveling from other districts, ensuring they're well-informed about the available facilities.

Security arrangements include extensive deployments involving the Rapid Action Force (RAF), local police, civil defence, GRP, and Railway Protection Force (RPF). This re-examination was ordered by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in February, following a paper leak incident.
