Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Friday described the alleged rape and murder of a doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Hospital as a painful incident, emphasizing the need for a stronger deterrent system to punish perpetrators.
Speaking at an event at Delhi University's Bharti College, Dhankhar reiterated President Droupadi Murmu's call for action titled 'Women's Safety: Enough is Enough,' highlighting the gravity of the August 9 incident that has triggered nationwide protests.
Dhankhar criticized Supreme Court Bar Association President Kapil Sibal for calling the incident a 'symptomatic malaise,' condemning such statements as a grave injustice to women. He called for financial independence for women and stressed their indispensable role in India's development.
