Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan convened with Uttarakhand Director General of Police Abhinav Kumar in New Delhi on Tuesday to address the state's law and order situation. Discussions covered the security scenario, women's safety, and ongoing police reforms.

Mohan assured Kumar of comprehensive support from the central government to bolster state law and order, particularly focusing on enhancing women's safety. Kumar extended an invitation to Mohan to visit Devbhoomi Uttarakhand to offer more guidance to state officials.

This high-level meeting followed the formation of a five-member committee by DGP Kumar, aimed at developing a detailed action plan to prevent crimes against women. Led by DIG P. Renuka Devi, the committee will assess various aspects of these crimes, including crime rates, sensitive areas, and the effectiveness of police actions and societal awareness.

The committee's upcoming report is expected to cover the nature of crimes against women, investigative outcomes, and the services available to victims. Kumar emphasized the importance of regulating religious processions and demonstrations to avoid public inconvenience, directing district in-charges to coordinate with District Magistrates to maintain peace and ensure no disruption to hospitals and educational institutions.
