Governor Shukla Emphasizes Mushroom Farming Development at National Fair

Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla called for increased efforts in mushroom farming and research to enhance shelf-life and production at the 27th National Mushroom Fair. He noted a significant rise in India's mushroom production over the past decade and urged for more awareness and adoption of modern technologies.

Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla highlighted the need for increased research and adoption in mushroom farming and extending the shelf-life of mushrooms on Tuesday at the 27th National Mushroom Fair.

Organized by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Directorate of Mushroom Research (ICAR-DMR) Solan, the Governor emphasized the importance of collaboration among scientists, producers, entrepreneurs, and industries, leveraging modern technologies to boost production and marketing.

He noted that India's mushroom production soared from around one lakh tonnes a decade ago to 3.50 lakh tonnes, making the country the fourth largest mushroom producer globally. The Governor also stressed taking advanced farming techniques nationwide through agricultural universities and science centers, improving the economic potential for mushroom growers. Additionally, he advocated for focusing on wild varieties like 'Gucchi and Keedajadi' for their high market value and encouraged organizing fairs, seminars, and training sessions to raise farmer awareness.
