Government Pushes Coal Blocks to Production for Energy Security

The Centre has urged coal block allottees to expedite production from recently auctioned mines. In a detailed review meeting chaired by Coal Additional Secretary Rupinder Brar, it was noted that the 71 coal blocks are in various stages of regulatory clearance. These mines are spread across nine states: Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, and West Bengal.

The government's committed efforts are focused on increasing domestic coal production, aiming to reduce dependency on coal imports and enhance energy security.
