Shares of BSE climbed nearly 5 percent on Tuesday following the activation of revised transaction fees for cash and futures and options trades, which took effect from the start of the month.
The stock rose 4.70 percent to Rs 3,858 on the NSE, peaking at an intra-day high of Rs 3,920, gaining a remarkable 6.38 percent. This development comes after the leading stock exchanges of BSE and NSE adjusted their transaction fees in compliance with Sebi's mandate for a uniform flat fee structure across all market infrastructure institutions.
As per the new rules, transaction fees for Sensex and Bankex options contracts in the equity derivatives segment have been set at Rs 3,250 per crore of premium turnover. All other charges in this segment remain as they were. According to Vishnu Kant Upadhyay, AVP of Research and Advisory at Master Capital Services, the introduction of new charges is expected to boost BSE's revenue, propelling its stock to new highs.
