Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced Saturday that the seat-sharing negotiations among the BJP, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), and NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) are nearing completion. 'A positive meeting was conducted with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and the discussions are now in the final stages. We'll have good news soon,' stated Shinde.
Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis reiterated the progress, saying, 'We've resolved problematic seats after productive discussions and have decided that cleared seats can be announced by party preference. Our processes, such as the Election Committee and Parliamentary Board, are almost concluded, and our candidate list can be released imminently.'
A pivotal meeting took place at Amit Shah's residence, stretching until 2 am, attended by Maharashtra's key leaders. The parties had settled on 240 seats, with fierce discussions ongoing for 48 challenging constituencies. The assembly elections scheduled for November 20 will feature BJP contesting 150-160 seats, Shiv Sena 75-85, and NCP 48-55. Vote counting is slated for November 23.
