Tripura's Chief Minister Manik Saha spearheaded the celebration of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on Monday at Swami Vivekananda Stadium in Agartala. This event, championing the cause of national unity, marked the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, drawing a diverse crowd of government officials, students, and local citizens eager to renew their commitment to national integration and social harmony.
Following the pledge ceremony, Chief Minister Saha inaugurated the 'Run for Unity'. The marathon started from Swami Vivekananda Maidan and concluded at Umakanta Academy, with enthusiastic participation from several attendees. In his remarks to media outlets like ANI, Saha highlighted that the occasion, originally declared in 2014 by the Prime Minister, was commemorated on October 29 this year due to the coinciding Diwali festival. He reiterated the importance of maintaining unity amongst Tripura's citizens.
The event dovetailed with nationwide celebrations, echoed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah at a similar event in the national capital. Shah emphasized that the 'Unity Run' not only celebrates India's unity but also aims toward a developed nation, underscoring Prime Minister Modi's initiative started in 2015 to honor Sardar Patel's legacy.
