In a surprising turn of events, a local pub in Pune has found itself at the center of controversy following its unconventional method of inviting guests to its New Year's Eve party. The pub allegedly sent invitation packages containing condoms and Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) packets, sparking widespread outrage.
This unexpected move prompted the police to step in, with Senior Police Inspector Nilkanth Jagtap of the Mundhwa police station confirming, 'The Pub head sent an advisory to invitees ahead of the party, emphasizing safety measures such as using helmets and avoiding drink driving.' The initiative was intended for the regular guests, but a post on Facebook showcasing the goodie bag has led to public backlash.
In light of the controversy, the pub decided to cancel the party. Police have since initiated an investigation, recording witness statements, and issuing notices to those involved. Maharashtra Youth Congress General Secretary Akshay Jain criticized the stunt as cheap publicity, warning against the rise of illegal activities and appealing for stricter actions to prevent similar incidents.
