Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, the spiritual leader and founder of the Isha Foundation, recently made an appearance on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Pariksha Pe Charcha', where he advised students to approach their textbooks in a playful manner rather than viewing them as daunting challenges. Speaking during the eighth edition of the event, Sadhguru emphasized, "Your textbook is not a challenge for your intelligence, regardless of your academic history. By approaching it differently, you can make learning an enjoyable and less stressful experience."
He highlighted the importance of having active dynamic intelligence to access knowledge. "Don't compare your intelligence with others. It is a myth that everyone must dispel," said Sadhguru, urging students to harness their unique potentials.
Sadhguru further elaborated that everyone has the ability to excel and accomplish unimaginable feats. He pointed out that a lack of effort prevents many from realizing their potential, while brain studies show that practices like Shambhavi Mahamudra can illuminate more of the brain's capacity. Education, he noted, should be about kindling curiosity and mental expansion.
According to Sadhguru, intelligence isn't merely about utility; it enriches the experience of life. "Just as physical exercise enhances bodily function, regular exertion of the mind leads to better mental faculties. Neglecting to engage the mind is like losing a cloud; it vanishes," he added, drawing attention to the transient nature of unused mental capabilities.
The 'Pariksha Pe Charcha' episode was widely broadcast, including on the Prime Minister's channels, providing PM Modi with a platform since 2018 to connect with students, parents, and educators. Since its inception, the event has aimed to offer strategies for exam stress management and is organized by the Ministry of Education's Department of School Education and Literacy.
The initial three editions took place in New Delhi's town hall, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the fourth edition was shifted online. The subsequent editions have returned to the town-hall format, continuing to provide a vibrant platform for dialogue and learning.
