Chandrapura's Power Surge: A New Era with DVC's Supercritical Plant

The Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) is gearing up to initiate construction on a cutting-edge 1600-MW supercritical thermal power plant in Chandrapura, situated in Jharkhand's Bokaro district. An official has revealed that the Centre has granted in-principle approval for two 800 MW units.
Senior General Manager and Project Head, Vijaya Nand Sharma, informed reporters about the impending launch of the project. 'The Centre has sanctioned two supercritical units of 800 MW each,' Sharma confirmed, highlighting the advanced nature of the endeavor.
The project, with an investment of Rs 16,500 crore, is set to adhere to all environmental regulations. A modern facility with state-of-the-art technology, it aims to improve efficiency over the existing 500-MW plant. Sharma also noted that the venture will create both direct and indirect employment opportunities in the region.
