The Bar Council of India (BCI) has expressed appreciation towards the Union Government for pausing the Advocates (Amendment) Bill, 2025. Acknowledging inputs from the legal community, the Ministry of Law and Justice will revise the draft for further discussion.

Through a direct communication to the BCI's Chairman, the Government assured that contentious points will be thoroughly reviewed. Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal emphasized that no law undermining the legal profession's autonomy or dignity will proceed unexamined.

In light of these developments, BCI urges legal associations to halt protests, as the Government shows a receptive approach, aiming to align reforms with advocates' interests. BCI remains committed to ensuring the legal profession's rights and independence.
