In a critical rescue operation underway in Telangana's Nagarkurnool district, the state government, led by Minister for Irrigation and Civil Supplies, Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy, is marshaling all available resources to save eight workers trapped in the SLBC tunnel at Domalapenta.
Addressing a press briefing, Minister Reddy announced that specialized teams from both Singareni and the Indian Army are being mobilized to handle the crisis. This follows a high-level meeting with Minister Jupally Krishna Rao and other key officials, strategizing immediate rescue efforts after the accident occurred on Saturday morning.
The incident, triggered by a sudden inflow of water and soil, trapped workers near the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM). Despite the chaos, authorities confirm that ventilation remains effective, providing oxygen to those trapped. Rescue teams with previous experience from Uttarakhand have been called to assist, alongside the fire and disaster management units.
