Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit has urged the Public Accounts Committee to take the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports seriously and address any irregularities identified. In a statement to ANI, Dikshit expressed hope that actions would be taken if discrepancies were found, particularly regarding the BJP government's governance.
Dikshit also cast doubt on the funding of BJP's election promises, highlighting concerns over the Delhi government's financial standing. 'The BJP has pledged a Rs 15,000 crore subsidy in its manifesto, but it remains unclear how these funds will be sourced,' Dikshit remarked.
Additionally, Dikshit criticized the lack of fundamental infrastructure developments, including inactive metro projects, road construction, and new educational institutions. He also called for a focus on addressing air pollution, alongside the ongoing initiatives to clean the Yamuna river.
In the political arena, the Delhi Legislative Assembly witnessed tumultuous scenes as CM Rekha Gupta tabled the CAG report on the Excise Policy 2024. Speaker Vijender Gupta suspended 12 AAP MLAs, including Leader of Opposition Atishi, following disruption during the Lieutenant Governor's address. The AAP MLAs continued their protest outside, questioning the state government's actions while holding posters of Babasaheb Ambedkar.
