In a dramatic turn of events in the Rajasthan Assembly, Congress MLAs staged a protest following the suspension of six members. The root of the unrest was an alleged derogatory remark about former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, made during the assembly’s question hour.
Sachin Pilot, a senior Congress MLA, called the suspension troubling and unfortunate, stressing that the party members only sought an apology and retraction of the statement. He accused the state government of disrupting the assembly's smooth functioning. Leaders, including Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully and state Congress President Govind Singh Dotasra, joined the protest, condemning the BJP for allegedly obstructing democratic proceedings.
Govind Singh Dotasra criticized the inconsistency between the Speaker's verbal statement and the official suspension order that prohibits the suspended MLAs from entering the assembly premises. Accusing the BJP of exerting undue influence, he suggested the possibility of introducing a no-confidence motion against the Speaker, asserting their stance against BJP’s dominance in the legislative process.
