In a significant breakthrough, Karnataka police have arrested Saranabasava, identified as the third suspect in the horrifying Hampi rape case. He was captured in Chennai after being on the run following the March 6 incident, according to statements made Monday by police officials.
Superintendent of Police of Koppal, Ram Arasiddi, emphasized the gravity of the crime, noting that a dedicated team was deployed to apprehend all suspects. With two previously arrested, Arasiddi confirmed that all necessary legal actions are underway. Intensified security measures and increased patrolling in the area were implemented in response to the crime.
The traumatic event unfolded when three men approached and attacked a group of tourists, leading to the assault of two women near Hampi. The attackers demanded money and, upon refusal, turned violent, resulting in severe injuries and the death of a male tourist. The police are proceeding with charges of attempted murder, robbery, and rape.
