On Monday, Bondada Group announced a significant achievement by securing a contract for a 400 megawatt hour battery energy storage system (BESS) from Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corporation Limited (TNGECL).
This landmark project will see the deployment of standalone grid-scale BESS facilities across two sites in Tamil Nadu: Vellalaviduthi and Thennampatty. The initiative primarily aims to improve grid stability, enable the integration of renewable energy sources, and address peak power demand challenges in the region.
The project's execution will follow a build-own-operate (BOO) model, with Bondada Group winning a competitive bidding process conducted by TNGECL. Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO) will engage with Bondada Group through a 12-year battery energy storage purchase agreement. This system will support two complete charge-discharge cycles daily, ensuring a reliable 24/7 power supply and effectively balancing renewable energy's intermittency.
