Telangana Advances Gig Worker Rights with Pioneering Legislation

The forthcoming Bill outlines critical measures such as the compulsory registration of gig workers by platforms, alongside the formation of a Tripartite board. This board, comprising workers, aggregators, and government representatives, will be tasked with overseeing the welfare of these workers, ensuring their rights are upheld.

Moreover, the legislation proposes a welfare fund managed by the Tripartite board, underscoring the government's commitment to economic and social justice. As the third state to enact such laws, following Rajasthan and Karnataka, Telangana continues the Congress party's legacy of championing labor rights, as emphasized by Jairam Ramesh.
