Assam Achieves Record Paddy Procurement: A Boost for Farmers

Assam set a new record in paddy procurement for the Kharif Marketing Season 2024-25, purchasing nearly 7 lakh metric tonnes, a significant increase from last season. Assam has achieved a historic milestone in agricultural procurement, with the state purchasing nearly 7 lakh metric tonnes of paddy during the Kharif Marketing Season 2024-25. This remarkable achievement more than doubles the procurement from the previous season, underscoring the state government's commitment to supporting its farmers.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the record-breaking accomplishment, hailing it as a testament to the state's dedication to connecting farmers with markets and securing the Minimum Support Price (MSP) they deserve. Last season, the procurement was a mere 3.14 lakh MT, a figure that pales compared to this year's record.

Additionally, the state's superior agricultural produce is making its mark globally. Farmers from Majuli island have successfully exported 267 metric tonnes of red rice to the Middle East and EU markets, reinforcing 'Brand Assam' on the international stage due to the high quality and nutrient-rich content of its products.
