Goa's Energy Future: Renewable Projects on the Horizon

Goa Power Minister Ramakrishna Dhavalikar clarified in the legislative assembly that there are no plans for a nuclear power facility in Goa. The government has focused on renewable energy projects, including wind and solar power, receiving proposals for multiple initiatives to enhance sustainable energy sources in the state.

Goa's Power Minister Ramakrishna Dhavalikar has confirmed the state government's stance on nuclear energy, stating that there is no proposal to establish a nuclear power facility in Goa.

In response to a query from Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) MLA Viresh Borkar, Dhavalikar noted that since there is no plan for such a facility, public consultations have not been necessary. This comes amid concerns over Goa’s ecological sensitivity and tourism-based economy.

Instead, the government is focusing on renewable energy projects, having received proposals for wind and solar power initiatives, including a 100 MW wind power plant, a 300 MW solar power project, and a 197 MW floating solar project across four dams.
