The Odisha government's recent efforts have simplified the registration process for farmers aiming to sell paddy amidst the upcoming Kharif Marketing Season 2025-26. Announced by Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra, the changes are designed to streamline farmers' participation in the paddy procurement scheme.
Speaking to reporters, Minister Patra emphasized the ease brought about by the new 'self-declaration' form, which allows farmers to register without extensive documentation. The deadline for this registration has been extended to August 25, with all processes expected to conclude by August 30, alleviating previous challenges faced by farmers due to documentation delays.
The Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Department has distributed the 'self-declaration' forms across districts, ensuring that farmers can take full advantage of the government's minimum support price. The department aims to facilitate the procurement process ahead of the scheduled start in early November.
