Known affectionately as 'Adi,' Tarapore led the Poona Horse Regiment to a landmark victory in the Battle of Phillora, Sialkot, annihilating 60 Pakistani Patton tanks while India suffered significantly fewer losses.
Despite grievous injuries, Tarapore remained steadfast in battle, unwavering in his leadership until his tank was destroyed on September 16, 1965.
