In the wake of a murder investigation in Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh police have made significant administrative changes, removing Unchahar police station chief Sanjay Kumar and suspending five officials. The department has detained four suspects in connection with the incident.
The police announced plans to arrest approximately 15 more individuals who were present at the crime scene but failed to intervene or report the incident. Raebareli Superintendent of Police Yashveer Singh emphasized that the case will be pursued under stringent legal frameworks, including the National Security Act and the Gangsters Act.
The murder victim, Hariom Valmiki, a Dalit man, was attacked by a mob in Unchahar's Jamunapur village. The incident has drawn political attention, with Raebareli MP Rahul Gandhi condemning the act and highlighting broader societal issues. Additionally, the victim's wife has sought government support following the tragedy.
