Indian Railways' Festive Boost: Record Special Trains Ensure Seamless Travel

As the festive season peaks, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw acknowledged the industrious efforts of Indian Railways at the Railway Board's War Room. With a substantial increase in special trains to 12,011 from last year's 7,724, the railways cater to increased demands during festivals like Puja, Diwali, and Chhath.
Amid operational challenges, Indian Railways is running additional services to ensure smooth travel. Between October 1 and October 19, 2025, around 3,960 special trains were managed to accommodate the festive rush. Plans are underway to operate 8,000 more trains to cope with soaring passenger numbers throughout its network.
The large-scale mobilization across Indian Railways zones, notably Northern, Central, and Western Railways, signifies a meticulous approach to passenger management. Enhanced facilities, such as expanded holding areas and ticket counters, have facilitated over one crore passengers, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to a seamless travel experience.
