Union Minister Chirag Paswan has endorsed the Election Commission's recent initiative to proceed with the second phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. This revision will take place across 12 states and Union Territories, emphasizing the critical need for accurate voter lists to sustain democracy.

Speaking in Patna, Paswan reiterated his longstanding support for the SIR, underscoring its significance in preventing any form of tampering or irregularity within electoral rolls. He noted the successful implementation of SIR in Bihar as an example of its effectiveness in safeguarding democratic processes.

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar announced in New Delhi that the exercise will span regions including the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Gujarat. The initiative will include steps such as printing, training, enumeration, and final publication set for February 7, 2026, marking a pivotal effort to ensure electoral integrity.
