Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd has introduced a significant change in its electricity connection policy. Applicants will no longer need to present a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for obtaining a power connection, as announced by Power Minister Sanjeev Arora on Tuesday.
Earlier, potential electricity consumers needed approvals like NOCs or regularisation certificates from local authorities before being granted connections. Minister Arora explained that many applicants faced difficulties due to delays in these approvals, prompting Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to implement a practical resolution.
Under the revised guidelines, electricity connections will be provided upon submission of an undertaking by the applicants, acknowledging that their connection could be disconnected if their premises are later deemed illegal. Additionally, applicants must pay connection and security charges. Arora emphasized that the changes balance public convenience and necessary safeguards, ensuring equitable access to essential services for all residents.
