In a significant weather alert, the Regional Meteorological Centre, Chennai, has forecasted light to moderate rain with isolated thunderstorms across several Tamil Nadu districts in the coming hours. As per the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Kallakurichi, Kanniyakumari, Madurai, and others are expected to receive rainfall.

This alert, valid until 1:00 PM today, stems from convective weather activity seen across the state. Authorities have advised precautionary measures in vulnerable regions during thunderstorms. The IMD will persist in its vigilant observation of weather patterns, providing updates as necessary.

Earlier, on Saturday, the IMD had already issued orange and yellow alerts in numerous Tamil Nadu districts, predicting rain and thunderstorms. The rainfall activity, tied to the northeast monsoon, typically affects the southern part of India from October to December.
