Despite the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Orban maintains a close rapport with Moscow, crucial for Hungary's energy security. The impending meeting follows the U.S. granting Hungary an exemption from sanctions, allowing the continued use of Russian oil and gas after Orban's convincing discussions with President Donald Trump.
Additionally, Hungary has signed an agreement with the U.S. for nuclear power cooperation to store nuclear fuel at the Paks I nuclear plant.
