The U.S. Department of Justice announced an upgrade in charges against an Afghan national suspected of fatally shooting a National Guard member, elevating the accusation to first-degree murder.
U.S. Attorney for Washington, D.C., Jeanine Pirro, made this announcement on the Fox News program 'Fox and Friends.' She indicated that a thorough review has led to the elevation of charges.
Previously, the charges included three counts of assault with intent to kill and three counts of firearm possession during a violent crime, as investigations into the incident remain underway.
