Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah lauded the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) as a forward-thinking initiative dedicated to combating maternal and child mortality rates and reducing malnutrition.
During the event commemorating the golden jubilee of the Comprehensive Child Development Scheme, Siddaramaiah emphasized the ICDS's origins under former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and its expansion to 69,922 anganwadi centers serving over 40 lakh women and children.
The chief minister highlighted the state's commitment to women's empowerment through schemes like Shakti and Gruhalakshmi, providing essential services and benefits to enhance economic and social self-reliance for women.
