EPFO's Swift Disposal of Pension Applications: A Triumph for Employees
The Employees' Provident Fund Organization has processed nearly 99% of applications for higher pension contributions under the EPS 1995. Minister Shobha Karandlaje informed Parliament that the swift action follows a Supreme Court decision. Over 17 lakh applications were submitted, with most approved, ensuring higher pensions for members.

The Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has made significant strides by processing nearly 99% of applications from individuals seeking higher pension contributions under the Employees' Pension Scheme (EPS) 1995, as reported to Parliament.
Shobha Karandlaje, Minister of State for Labour & Employment, indicated action was taken in response to a Supreme Court ruling, enabling an online facility for members' applications. As of July 11, 2023, 17.49 lakh applications were submitted, with employers forwarding 15.24 lakh applications to EPFO by January 31, 2025.
Almost all applications were processed by November 2025. A total of 4,27,308 demand letters were issued, affirming the government's commitment to maximizing benefits under the EPS-95 scheme, ensuring equitable treatment of pensioners.
