The Madhya Pradesh Assembly concluded its current session on Friday, approving a significant second supplementary budget totaling Rs 13,476.94 crore before adjourning sine die. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav emphasized that this budget is a step towards realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a developed India through a progressive state.
In contrast, Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar criticized the budget's approach, labeling it more debt-oriented than developmental. He questioned high expenditures on luxury items such as a jet plane and the Chief Minister's residence, arguing that the focus should instead be on addressing pressing needs of farmers, youth, and women.
As per Finance Minister Jagdish Devda, the state's borrowings align with established rules and maintain fiscal balance. Despite disagreements, the budget provisions include crucial funds for schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and various agricultural and industrial projects. The legislative session ended with Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar adjourning the assembly sine die.
