SMFG India Credit, a non-banking financial company, has set a new benchmark by announcing a paid menstrual leave policy for its female employees, effective from December 2. This trailblazing initiative aligns with the progressive workplace policies adopted increasingly by various states.
The policy grants women employees one paid menstrual leave per month, on top of the existing leave types. Notably, this leave will be auto-approved, eliminating the need for managerial approval or a medical certificate, and must be used within the same month it is allotted, according to the company's statement.
"At SMFG India Credit, we have proactively implemented menstrual leave across our pan-India offices to strengthen our commitment to inclusion and the holistic well-being of women employees," said Ravi Narayanan, Managing Director and CEO. SMFG India Credit, a subsidiary of Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, is a notable Non-Banking Financial and Investment Company registered with the Reserve Bank of India.
