India's fertilizer imports are projected to increase by 41% to 22.3 million tonnes in the 2025-26 fiscal year, driven by rising domestic demand following favorable monsoon rains, according to the Fertilizer Association of India (FAI).

As the world's second-largest consumer of fertilizers, India imported 14.45 million tonnes from April to October, marking a 69% growth from the previous year. Fertilizer stocks remained stable, with no significant supply constraints reported despite isolated shortages during the kharif season.

Domestic production slightly increased to 29.97 million tonnes in the same period, and India, which serves over 140 million farming households, remains committed to international partnerships to ensure continuous supply. The upcoming FAI seminar will address these developments and future strategies.
