In a significant escalation of the investigation into the tragic nightclub fire in Goa that claimed the lives of 25 individuals, state police have requested international cooperation to locate and extradite the absconding owners of Birch. This restaurant-cum-club operated under the Romeo Lane brand. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Goa Police, Varsha Sharma, stated that Lookout Circulars (LOCs) have been issued against the Luthra brothers, the establishment's owners, with Interpol and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) involved in efforts to bring them back.

During a press conference, Sharma explained, "LoC has been issued against them (Luthra brothers). They are not in India. We are utilizing the support of Interpol and CBI to ensure their return. They were not present in Goa on the day of the incident." Additionally, Ajay Gupta, a co-owner, has been implicated and listed on a Lookout Circular.

The tragedy has been described as "a painful accident" by the authorities, who emphasized their swift response. Police have been diligent in identifying the victims, completing post-mortem processes, handing over remains to families, and running a parallel criminal investigation. Meanwhile, guidelines and advisories to restaurants are being issued, and foot patrols are increased due to the upcoming season.

Recent developments include the apprehension of Bharat, the fifth suspect in the fire case, brought to Anjuna Police Station. He managed day-to-day operations on behalf of the owners. Authorities have sealed and are set to demolish Romeo Lane, a restaurant owned by the Luthra brothers in the Vagator area, to prevent further incidents.

A blue notice might be issued to gather additional information regarding the absconding duo's identity, as outlined by Interpol standards. A magisterial inquiry has been launched into the devastating affair, scrutinizing lapses leading to the club operating with expired licenses. The state government pledges full support to the affected families, with the inquiry committee already in place to examine the incident.
