An eight-year-old boy found himself navigating a heartbreaking ordeal as he managed the postmortem and final arrangements for his mother, who succumbed to an HIV-related infection. The minor was alone until local police stepped in, assisting with legalities and last rites.
The child accompanied his deceased mother to the morgue, explaining to officials that he had no other family present. His mother passed away during treatment in a government hospital in Etah district, leaving her son isolated, the police reported.
Authorities were informed by hospital staff, after which police helped arrange the cremation. The boy expressed fears about his safety regarding a family land dispute. His father, who also passed away from an HIV-related illness months earlier, left the family in dire financial straits.
