On Monday, Lok Sabha Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi delivered a compelling speech urging the public to shun the 'culture of silence' and address the ingrained 'idea of greed' in society. Speaking at a gathering in Kochi, he awarded the Priyadarshini Literary Award to M Leelavathy, emphasizing the necessity of voicing opinions for building a great nation.
Gandhi highlighted the widespread reluctance to speak out, urging that silence fosters greed, where individuals overlook societal injustice as long as their personal needs are met. "Great nations and individuals are forged when opinions are expressed and fought for," he asserted, advocating for active, vocal participation in societal matters.
The event, graced by Congress leaders like VD Satheesan and Venugopal, also served as Congress's unofficial electoral launch for the forthcoming Kerala Assembly polls. With the polls on the horizon, Congress hopes to unseat the CPI(M)-led LDF government. Rahul Gandhi's upcoming Raebareli visit will bolster the 'MGNREGA Bachao' campaign against the VB-G RAM G Act, 2025.
